This guy was outside the window on the third floor of the hotel at the end of our hall.
It's body was about two inches long by an inch or so wide.
I still have nightmares lol.

Yellow and black garden spider, as she's usually called.
She's an orb-weaver. And my monicker on tumblr is orbweavr, after this specimen.
I'm a New England too, so I've seen a couple in my day (and unfortunately, a couple is all there has been that I've seen. I wanna see more, they're my fave!).

Nice there were a few egg sack looking things around they must have been hers, she was pretty scary though, first time I seen one since I was a kid, and I had the same reaction; scream, run and get other people, point from far away and go "Hey go look at that and tell me if it as scary to you as it is to me!" lol
Nice. When I was a little boy, I kind of had one of these as a pet living outside my bedroom window. I used to catch ants and stun wasps and throw them into the web and watch the spider go to work. One summer night, I even watched a praying mantis try to get at it and they fought. Spider drove it away. Garden spiders are the most awesome. the strength of their webs are amazing too. It's like fishing line.
