Older pic. Also, tl;dr warning so you don't go telling me you thought the desc was Too Long; Didn't Read.
An attempt to 1) practice my lighting and 2) kill this mother of a block (which may have been upgraded from 'block' to 'burnt out'....) by any means necesary. Aaaaand when in doubt, draw a cuedow, I always say. Apologies if it comes out too dark for some of you.
This is an Arrowdow, called that because of their hunting style, in which they will keep watch on whatever small prey they may come across and dash in that one direction with almost cheetah-like speed until they catch up with their would be kill. The Unaa (nose-shield, the semi-transparent fingernail-like objects that cover the noses of all cuedows) is longer than most species and sharper to boot, allowing them to injure or even out and out skewer the prey long enough to lash at it properly with teeth and claws.
...this Arrowdow, however, has a more pressing matter to attend to than just eating and running. The yellow marks on his thigh? The left one is a representation of the cuedow goddess Aman'thena while the small character on the right is the Munevalian (cuedow writing) symbol for Mura, or chosen one. Almost all cuedows born as Chosen have the chance to compete for the right to challenge a demigod, or Lienn, and take his/her place in the great Order. Every now and then a demigod will offer a Chosen the chance to earn their right to demigodhood vis means of riddles or mind games or, in the case here, a quest of sorts.
Fun fact? At one point I was looking at my then-current, Axel-themed wallpaper (as in, Axel from Kingdom Hearts) for ideas and considered drawing him as a cuedow. TECHNICALLY I scrapped the idea, though some elements from that still linger in the pic, like the face and such. The glowy medallion? Um...random light source because he is in a cave, I guess. I'd dwell on it some more, only I'm dog tired at the moment...so, uh, I'll end it there for now.
