A little secret: Most of them don't know shit. They purposely try to make you feel stupid when you ask for help because they don't want you to realize that they don't know the answer. I think I've met two people in my life who claimed to know anything about computers who actually did. All the others have been chumps. Also, telling me to get a Mac is not a solution, asshole, because my time is not worthless.

Back in the late 90's, when the internet was proving to be more than a plaything for the idle rich (yeah, I'm looking at YOU Moody!), old school computer tech support guys were LEGENDARY for their poor social skills in forums and newsgroups where they had to face large groups of people not beholden to them for anything. Powerless, these neckbearded manbabies were the early grammer nazis and RAILED like Carry Nation about people using Windows instead of good ole' command line DOS for their everyday computing needs. A few grey muzzles here might remember a character named Balou from the alt.fan.furry boards who was SUCH a pill, furs were willing to take up a collection to hasten his move to Canada...
