Here's a picture of Jasmine in her healthier days, nice and fat while dancing to Thriller(well, looking like it). She's been getting thinner the past week as she stopped eating and seemed to have trouble breathing. She was at her most lethargic yesterday and we had a vet appointment scheduled for Monday. We had the option of getting her in this morning, but she would have died before then anyway. She was 12 years old.
Her brother, Zack, is rather healthy, and always hogs the food. He was laying on the other side of the bed from her afterward. I doubt he'll take it that well because he's the social one. We had once decided that if Jasmine died first, Zack would take it worse than Jasmine would if Zack died first. Jasmine liked time alone and would often hide out. Zack would annoy her a lot. Now Zack has only us to annoy.
The cats were originally my sister's, so she's taking it the worst. My mom called her shortly after. My sister was driving, so mom made sure she pulled over before breaking the news to her. I've been dreading the day that either of them would die, because they're my sister's cats but they're under my and my mom's care. But since my sister had married a dog guy, I knew that we'd have them for the rest of their lives. The inevitable has now happened.
