A gift for my girl
zyhuatl, done on the fly because I really wanted to continue trying to draw characters in costume, as I did with Ankara in the previous submission in my gallery. I am hoping the inspiration keeps up. I want to make a series out of drawing anthro characters in various costumes. I am in desperate need of practice in drawing clothes, props, and poses, as well as shading in various ways.
This piece marks a HUGE change in the way I'll be doing my drawings. Up until now, every digital coloring I have ever made has been done using Paint Shop Pro 7. It was the program I was introduced to, it was the one I was most comfortable with, and I was loathe to change to anything else. However, the program is now so old that my computer barely runs it now. I suppose I should be lucky that it runs at all. Windows 7 is notorious for killing older programming. So this time, I decided i was going to throw caution to the wind and download a free trial of the current version of PSP, called X4. Corel calls it the ultimate photo editing software, but it still serves its original purpose. And...wow. I was way beyond impressed with the changes. It normally takes me 20 minutes to clean up a freshly scanned drawing for coloring. With X4, it took one single click. So yeah, I'm gonna be buying the full version soon. And lucky for me, it's on sale right now! A hell of a lot cheaper than what I originally purchased PSP7 for.

And the costume theme for this image is, obviously, pirate. But do we all recognize WHICH pirate? :P
No...probably not. After all, I cannot draw clothing very well. Honestly, starting out, Zy was looking more like a pimp than a pirate. But this costume is modeled after Penelope Cruz' character in Pirates of the Caribbean. I absolutely LOVE On Stranger Tides. So if the series continues, I will also continue to draw costumes of movies and other things I like. Just need to decide which one to do next.
Hope you like, Sper! :D
