It's very hard to write about Melody without having tears in my eyes. She was a beautiful, playful and beloved German Shepherd of ours, and today... she was put to sleep.
It wasn't an easy decision, but I'm sure we did the right thing. She was almost turning 8 this year, and a few days ago we noticed that her behavior changed. She wasn't eating, she wasn't drinking any water, and she was only bones and skin. She also couldn't walk for long, getting tired quickly. We took her to a vet as soon as we noticed those changes, and it appeared that she only had a little allergy. But a second visit to another vet showed us the truth: our dear Melody was getting old, and her heart wasn't working normally, not even her lungs.
Seeing her like that was a horrible sight, I won't lie... two days later she couldn't even walk, and she needed to drink water from a syringe. She also was bleeding from her mouth a bit, and we just couldn't take it... my mom took her to the vet today, at 9am, to put her to sleep. She died in her arms, while being caressed and being called "my darling" and "my beautiful"...
We don't regret a single second of her life. She was happy, she always could walk wherever she wanted, she had space to run and play, she could eat whatever she wanted, and she had 7 people that loved her until her very last moment...
R.I.P., Melody. We will always love you, my darling...
