This picture is sort of a continuation of this first "Training session" artwork involving "DJ Darkfox" and "Reptile Cynrik":

It's been fun to work with such intense muscle anatomy again. The muscle anatomy may look huge in some parts, but that's the point about "Buff Art": the muscles are "overdrawn" but still orrect (well, it's possible to get even more BUFF - but that's not out way)!
As you can see, "Reptile" did a lot of training since the last meeting with his friend "DJ"!
By the way... this is as far as I'm willing to go with "Reptile's" muscle growth! ^^"
THIS here shows a point in time, when he just finished 1-2 hours of intense "pumping" and flexing.
YEAH! ENJOY - there's muscles for everyone (furry and scalie fans altogether)!!!

The lineart and coloring looks as smooth and perfected as usual, nothing less I expect from you, Pat.
However....
DJ's body looks ridiculously out of proportion, it's bothering me way too much. And this is coming from a big muscle fan, too. I have to disagree with your "muscles are overdrawn but still correct" comment. Rather, they're over-exaggerated to the point that I can't take it seriously. It doesn't make sense how his upper chest is so huge and then his abdomen is ridiculously small in comparison. You seem to be following the same mistakes DJ has been doing with his own art. This is really all I have to say about it.

Hi!
Sorry to bother you with that, but as Reppy said, he just inked my sketch I did before.
And for you it might be an anatomy out of proportion, but I never said I'd draw super realistic anatomy, I never said that in any way, even if I might get close to a good, partly realistic anatomy.
The way I draw the proportions are just my style that I enjoy to use, otherwise I would be just another artist who tries to draw as anatomically correct as the standard human proportions show in the real nature.
I'm proud of my style and I will continue it the way it is, because I just enjoy it like this.
I like it ripped, beefy and bulky, like my art is, that's what matters, not the taste of other artists about my art, because for me the love of art always begins with the artist itself who draws the art.

I suppose it was my fault when I wrote "Buff Art": the muscles are "overdrawn" but still orrect"
Yeah. I should've written about DJ's style in the first place and that he's not aiming at the "all perfect realism" as I inspire to be. ^^"
So, pardon about the misunderstanding.

Thanks, my friend.
Yes, you recognized that I "only" did the line art, colouring, shading and REPTILE (complete)!
The pencil of "DJ" was only inked by myself and... true, it is NOT my style of anatomy and muscle proportions. But hey, that's just another style to cope with.
And I always enjoy to finish other people's drawings!!!
[By the way, this "DJ" will appear in his own gallery, too - finished and in a new context!]
So, you see... it is more or less just a collage of HIS pencil and MY little drawing. ^^

No problem! ^_^ You will see that the SAME drawing of this character will appear in his gallery in the near future. Of course, all inked and coloured (traditional) by himself then!
I just like to try my inking/colouring skills on some pencils... as you know! ^__^ (have done the same for you a few times)

Well, it might be that most of the time I see anything muscle related, it's dramatically way overblown, and to me that looks a little....grotesque. This though isn't so much of that. It is more muscle bound, but it isn't like a super bodybuilder.
That's kinda what I was going along the lines of.

Hast dir ja gut Mühe gegeben, freut mich sehr.
Klar... REPTILE war und soll immer der "athletische Typ" sein und bleiben!
http://reptile-universum.de/reptile_bilder/Artwork/Pinups/Reptile2011.jpg

I am not really a super muscle fan :O But Reppy's body is definately alot of sexy!! :D I hope he just doesn't overdo it with all that wightlifting!! After the 100th age it might be hard for him :P! kidding kidding!!! *hugs* This seems loads of fun :D! Awesome job With Dj's muscles, they are really awesome even if not in my tastes :)!! For some certain reason i can't help but stare at both of your abs o-o!! MARVELOUS!!! <3 Mmrrr!!!
I do like this, because I do like the muscular characters. You and DJ both pay such attention to detail in your art. And Reptile himself clearly is benefiting from the continuing training, just as clear as it is DJ hasn't slacked off on his training either! It's good to see different poses, too. You don't see a side triceps pose in furry muscle art all that often.
Thank you very much!! ^__^
You know, DJ really knows a lot about anatomy and has his unique style. It's always fun to do the line art or colouring for him.
Sure, he usually colours everything traditional (which is even better), but from time to time it's nice to see a digital version of his artworks.
Though he's doing his OWN line art every time, I love to practise my inking skills on such a nice mountain of muscles.
Furthermore, he's a nice guy - and that counts the most! ^_______^
Even if some people may not agree to this muscle growth - I won't overdo it myself - he knows what he does and is a good artist. AND he also pays much attention to the comments he gets, which is also important to me!

I also have to ask.
DJ darkfox has a kinda akward look on his eyes.
Can't really describe it more than it looks like a big stare compared to Reptile's more intriguing and almost inviting gaze.
And also, the chest plates on Reptile, are they softer like the typical muscular chest muscles like the fox or actually just hard plates? Since if they were hard plates, how would that be affected to muscular growth?
Just my mind thinking of too many things I guess, but I still felt I just had to ask.

Very nice piece, Reptile. I've been following your art for a long time, and I love how detailed all of your works are.
As for your OC's muscles, well, I think they're just the right size. In all honesty, I prefer to keep the muscles on my own characters a bit more natural in size.

Thank you a lot for the comment, it's really appreciated. It seems, you never commented before, isn't that true? ^^"
So, you did follow my works... well, in that case I'm even MORE happy to get a comment then!
This artwork idea was just an idea... about HOW LARGE "Reptile's" muscles would get if he'd really TRAIN hard... for hours. ^^"
This is as far as I'm willing to go. And after this "photo" here, the muscles will get smaler again. AFter all, this is the moment of TOTAL size!
As you can see, "Reptile's" normal muscle build is like this:

http://reptile-universum.de/reptile_bilder/Artwork/Pinups/Fundoshi-Reptile2.jpg

Reptile, HISS! What firm, pronounced muscles you've grown lately-! I see you've taken on a willingness to develop bigness to rival the softer-skinned, bulkier friend of yours, and done well… VERY well. He may still be a bit stronger than you, but we both know our species is deceptively powerful, due to our colder-blooded metabolism and regeneration. We don't need such thick muscle fibers to do the same job. Ours is a strength born in speed of execution, able to lash lightning-quick and spin, dart and snap!
DJ Darkfox, woof! What an immense, bulging body! There's not an inch of you that's not tight and/or veiny… truly amazing. And you're tall, too. Seeing someone so huge in every way is scary… and that's a compliment! You do have a very sweet face, and a trim, lanky build despite it being layered with bulging, bumpy muscle. You're quite a beaut.
to you both. Now I need to rest my head. *swoons*

Hehehehehe, ohohohohoho, har har har!! XD *thinks about Muten Roshi from DRAGONBALL* ^^"
Aye, that's already high praise... THANKS!
Harrrrrrrrrrrr, indeed... REPTILE's muscles are strong, too and his scales also give him additional protection! ;)
DJ is even a little bit taller than REPTILE... XD But REPTILE's tail is larger!
Glad you like it, harrrrr. *murrs*

Yes, our tails are what give us unfair advantage over most other soft-skinned races. We can knock them on their ass, making US the ones standing taller! Able then to lunge down, our hard claws ready and capable of piercing a ribcage, or our teeth capable of tearing their soft necks open. So many vulnerable, meaty places come exposed for our fangs, claws and physical power to strike, wound, rip, gouge, tear, even eat… Yeah, even though I believe I stand a bit taller than you, Reptile (I'm about 8'), and my muscles are getting big, this doesn't mean I have remained as lithe and powerful. I would not care to challenge you.
Your body clearly has the build and markings of the primeval, the dinosaurish… mine definitely from a more evolved, civilized age. This means unfortunately that I've softened through these ages of development. I've worked hard to build up against this tendency, but yours is definitely still tied to the very harsh, brutal life of the jungle, the kill-or-be-killed, the be quick or be dead. So I definitely appreciate your strength having come from natural necessity rather than chiefly repetition with iron weights.
It may be more from a time of harsh adventure, in which case we do have that in common. I have had to fight against large raptors and T-Rex like monsters, and survive. That too has made me stronger. It was a jungle land, one hard to travel, but now that I know it better, of little danger to me any longer.
Enjoy all the pleasures of your bigger body. You might find its size wonderful enough to change your mind about not wanting to gain any more size. I ultimately found myself lusting for more, and growing again. In one word: RAWR.

Well, it's mostly a collection of experience.
Usually I'm working with human models! I either pick models from the internet, magazines OR I pose for myself. Then, I "simply" add all the necessary muscles and features.
In THIS case, "DJ" did the drawing on the left side and I just worked over my "REPTILE" the same way. It was a good reference. ;)
AND of course, I work with my experience of muscles and anatomy, which I got over the years (I'm drawing since 1992!!).
Though I always prefer to use REAL, human models!

This was an entry for my "Power of Training" series... and in time, the "Swimsuit edition" evolved from this.
^^ It is unofficial but fun!
