A young, spirited ring-tailed lemur pauses while bouncing around in its enclosure to flash a bit of an innocent smile. I think this kind of expression perfectly captures the jovial charisma of these lemurs, endemic to the island of Madagascar.

hah! you might find this interestnig. I tell this story a lot but it's especially relevant to you, being at jungle cat world :P
as I have told you I went to camp there for a few years when I was 10-12.
It was always a very strange camp... very little rules... they just let us roam free for the most part, and sometimes broguht us together so we could do things like play with baby tigers o.0 lol
anyway
one night i was by the cabins- and heard some strange howling- i looked up and saw there was a full moon. most nights, it was quiet, but tonight there was this rukus of howling going about. i decided to go into the zoo and check it out (amazing that i could go into the zoo alone around 10 when i was that age... would never be allowed now). peering around, obviously i went to the wolves first, but shadow and the others were quiet- further exploration and following sounds lead me to the primates- eventually to the ring tailed lemurs... it was THEM howling... craziness... especially because during the day feeding them treats, they were the MOST gentle taking it from you, unlike the spider monkeys.
i don't know how much of that is true, i feel like some of it might be created in my mind, but i definitely remember howling one night and it not being the wolves. yup. so many stories from that place.
