Since some of you asked to see the other one, here it is xD;
These were both projects for my art class, we had to do 2 self portraits. Because it's art class, I needed to do something symbolic and chose to represent how people (probably) perceive me with my inner self.
I think that the fursuit one came out better simply because I am better with colored pencil than with graphite, and human faces are hard to draw X3; So, the one on the left is roughly what I look like, but not quite. The two don't line up exactly since fursuit facial anatomy and human facial anatomy don't quite line up X3;
If you don't care about the explicit meanings, please skip the next 2 paragraphs, lol.
Please note, I don't know for sure that this is how people that don't know me perceive me, but this is often what it feels like. For the perceived version of me, at least in regard to non-furries, I chose to draw my human self in black and white because obviously if you're just looking at me you're not getting the full picture... The indifferent expression also shows this. I also used torn up pieces of paper in the background because I honestly feel like, at least at school, I'm only ever noticed because I get pretty good grades. The papers have words of negative judgements I feel like people are probably making about me, and the black shadow around the edges represents a barrier between those people and myself.
Conversely, the fursuit picture is more of my inner self. The dark black border represents how not a lot of people actually get to see it, and the bright colors represent how interesting I can be if you take the time to know me. I decided to use my lynx fursuit rather than my Wolfeh fursuit since this one was intended to be more colorful. Also, to add to the symbolism, I created a sort of visual irony by asserting that my 'real' self is a mask, and my 'mask' self is what's real.
Fursuit heavily referenced from my lynx suit, made by

And I really like this... very well thought out, and great work. Portraits are HARD to do, even on an emotional level. Forget the artistic level... fantastic shading, can even go further if you wanted to get that depth you're looking for with the darks on your human side.
Fantastic. ^-^
Fantastic. ^-^
Ha... artists... so fantastic at putting symbolism into their work. :D
I applaud you on both halves of the works. For sure you're pretty good with human faces (but I fail like a dude in jail when it comes to human anatomy, so what do I know?! 8D )
The colorful piece is definitely more interesting.. which can be said that you, when a person gets to know you, are also interesting. So it fits, I guess.
A tad bit of critique:
I'd put more contrast in your outer-self portrait if I were you... just to keep it from looking so muddy. (I'm a stickler for contrast and vibrance.) If there is more contrast that this photo of the works shows then awesome. xD Disregard that bit, then. I know cameras sometimes don't do the piece justice at times... most of the time really.
