An ocelot girl with an unusual fur pattern, based off the Mandarin Dragonet, a colorful reef-dwelling fish which is one of my favorites.
Mandarin is preparing for a relaxing soak in the hot tub. She must have a bit more of the fish in her than just the pattern, as she loves the water.
Done with ink, colored pencils and white acrylic on 8"x10" colored textured paper.

I hate being the only "negative" person, but I actually don't like the markings too much =I
They look nice, and are original as far as I've seen, but the way they're executed, they stand out too much on the fur and look almost unnatural.
Apart from the fact that the markings stand out unnaturally and unappealingly well, I love how this picture looks, especially her facial expression and eyes. The lighting and water are also superbly done

When we had our 90 gallon salt water, we kept a Mandarin Dragonet amoung other things, and lucked out in that we managed to wean it onto flake food, and it lived happily :) Our aquarium had quite a few miracles with fish, like the Mandarin, that are notoriously difficult to keep, but us getting lucky :P
