I often sleep on my stomach cuddling a pillow- but when I wake up my shoulders always hurt from being outstretched above my head all night.
Use to sleep under the blankets as a kid, or 'almost' where it was covering half my face. I think I just get too hot at night sleeping to do that anymore.

i use to sleep like that but not any more and how i didn't suffocate was i would use air relays as i sleep i wake up and let air in thru a little crack and breath but some times i would sleep thru the whole night and then bust out of my blankets grasping for air thinking im going to die but realize i slept thru the whole night and didn't die and why you don't suffocate is because your body uses less air when you sleep then when you are awake

Wow.... I know exactly what you mean.
I was afraid of the dark in my room till around 15yrs of age.
It was so bad sometimes i'd get terrified and freeze up, unable to scream or move. To me the blanket
was the only thing keeping me safe, not so much from what might get to me, but from me having to
see what it was. This is actually the reason I don't toss and turn in bed.
Now I can sleep without having to be covered completely, but I still sleep much better that way.

I used to Always do this as a little kid. My comforter was a friggin' blast barrier to what I would always imagine creeping around my room D:
Always had this quirk that if any part of me was visible to the outside of the covers, I was vulnerable, wigged my parents out when they'd see me completely smothered by the cloth. x3

I used to make pillow forts with my three pillows, well it was more like a pillow head cave. Too this day I feel really comfortable sleeping with a pillow pulled over my head.
Other wise I can usually be found sleeping comfortably in the most awkward places like under a table or curled up in a ball some where out of the way, the more uncomfortable the position looks the more comfortable I tend to be. x.x

Why do we have this irrational fear of monsters under the bed and in our closets that transcends childhood and follows us into out adult lives? Maybe it's an inborn instinct from when predators really did lurk in the shadows and we had to use fire to protect ourselves... maybe it's just too many stories about the boogie man...
I'd really like to know why we're all so afraid of the dark! D:

I used to sleep in the fetal position with my hands over my head, I wasn't afraid of the dark, but I had two sadistic older brothers... I didn't sleep well for the first 17 years of my life.
Now I go to sleep on my back and usually wake on my stomach facing the total opposite direction... sometimes in different rooms in the house... sometimes outside... LOL

this is why I cant sleep without some kind of plush in my arms..when I was a kid I used to CLING to one because I always thought it would come to life and protect me somehow I got so used to it it feels strange when my arms arnt curled around something
though sometimes my fat kitty has to substitute cus hes fluffy and adorable and loves to sleep under my covers

The only way I'm comfortable sleeping is on my back with my arms crossed over my chest like I'm lying in a coffin. I think it was because as a kid I was obsessed with vampires for a bit (note: this was WAAAAAAY before Twilight).
But I was also scared of them, so I absolutely HAD to have the blankets covering me from my feet up to my neck, with only my head poking out because your head is the only place where vampires can't bite you since all the blood vessels are so close to the bone it makes it difficult to bite effectively.

I used to do that when I was little, but I had to stop because it would get too hot and stuffy under the covers. I eventually weened myself off of using night lights and such, which was pretty hard.
Of course I was more afraid of ninja assassins and horror movie esque slashers. Maybe it's a boy thing. :U

I'm pretty sure that's an autistic thing, really. XD I do the same thing. Summertime sucks, 'cause it's like... HOW AM I SUPPOSED TO SLEEP IF I'M GOING TO SUFFOCATE OR DIE OF HEAT STROKE? I mean, goddammit, how am I supposed to SLEEP without those ten tons of covers? >:/
The ghost and the alien must be related somehow to the Ravenous Bugblatter Beast of Trall (from the "Hitchiker's Guide to the Galaxy"), which can be foiled by wrapping your towel around your head; the Bugblatter Beast is so mind-bogglingly stupid, it assumes that if you cannot see it, it cannot see you.
I have the lovely habit to sleep anywhere and any pose. The ability of a cat! That's what they say.
I was never afraid of the dark, I was actually... afraid of the light! Cause in the dark I could see everything, and in the light couldn't. There are things hiding in the light that are more scary than those in the dark. >_>
