This guy I had a lot of fun with desiging. When going through oodles of google images and wikipedia stuff, I started to put together the idea for a sea creature which well, would be out there designwise. It might look relatively benign, or even well, friendly, but it would still have a menace to it.
The combination of creatures in question are: Lionfish, Gulping Eel, Hagfish, Viperfish and lastly, I did get inspired by some elements of the Leviathan design from Final Fantasy (ironic since I did the whole Ifrit one yesterday). Oddly enough, the combination here made me inadvertantly put together something not to dissimilar to the Aboleth (for those DnD players out there), but from a human stock instead of something completely different.
Done in pen, I hope you like it. Feedback, as always, is most welcomed!

Hey, thank you so much for the comment. It was fun working it out, and just, i did spend a few days researching and looking up different creatures - so I think it's why it had a lot more 'solid' build to him, you know? I'm glad that he came out as both spooky and cool, just been trying to step up my game.
Also, i might be asking you for some advice and help with color on some of these guys. the designs came out well, but, i don't want to screw it up by... well... trying to color it >_>
*hugs* thanks again for the comment!

Sure thing! :D oouu sounds good! And I was thinking too you just did a great job with the perspective on the tail and the torso- it really looks believably round and going back into space :3 looks sweet!
And sure! :D you can ask me advice anytime :B hahaha! and well if it's already scanned.. I think you can't mess it up by just playin with the colors! :3 *hughug* you're welcome no prob!

lol D&D/PF reference ftw. Suddenly have the urge to stat up this guy as some kind of aboleth experiment and then throw him at a party. :3
I agree with the compliments on the perspective for the most part and applaud the new tf, but I do have a little constructive criticism. Watch out for his right shoulder... looks kind of like it's smaller than his left. Some more complex shading around those areas might make it clearer what's going on, but I do recognize this kind of perspective can be impossible to keep from looking weird. Even photographs of poses like this can sometimes look "wrong". :P

If you're reffering to the shoulder on our right facing him, yeah - the problem is that i have been trying to avoid shading and stuff and his upper arm is bent.... color might help, but I definitely agree it looks out of sorts. It's just wasn't easy getting the shoulder position right on it.
As for DnD stuff heh, well, uh... don't throw him at your party, he is quite heavy... you might hurt yourself =P
I was already fiddling with stat ideas for him as it is. =3

Oooooh. Fantastic pose and whatever he's tuning into is absolutely great-looking, I can tel you've done your research on the deep sea critters! As a TF sketch it's got this great air of nasty (good nasty not like, bad nasty, lol) realism about it, but I've noticed that about all of the pictures you draw!
Thank you so much! I started with fine arts years ago and hen tried to get into comic and manga styled stuff, but the thing is that the anatomy always has to look right in my head in order for me to get it down on paper.
I have been really pleased with the feedback on this one and the others, since, well, it's helping me want to experiment more with other shapes and forms, while trying to keep the anatomy looking right =P
This guy is one i definitely want to ink properly and color... i think it might come out nicely =3
