I got him all dolled up for a quick shot. A little otter fursuit.
I am not too crazy about the nose, and am going to change it. I was on the fence about it, and when I looked at the snapped pictures I knew it just didn't work. Other than that, he is about ready to go.
With 2 out of the three suits I am working on currently being very experimental, it was nice to have an otter to move forward with.
That also reminds me, I need tt post the electronics going into m our next kitty. They are taking awhile, but promise to be really cool.

Why, thank you.
To tell you the truth, for what I thought was going to be a simple, easy suit, otters are very difficult to approximate. I do think you make a good point. What makes a good character is keeping what characteristics that have to be there for an animal, and knowing what you can toon up without losing those. For an otter, it was a challenge.
The nose pattern is staying, but i thought it looked really cruddy with the contrast of that material. So, you will see a similar nose, but more seamlessly implemented.

Yep you've hit the nail on the head. XD It's like cartoon characters: the most important things to do are keep it original and recognizable. And when you can pick out the shapes that make it easy to recognize as a specific animal you're half way there. Of course I say this as someone who's trying to work on that myself. XD This guy, I think, demonstrates that perfectly!
Good to hear on the nose. I definitely can't wait to see him all done up with his new schnoz and everything~ :D I think the seamless-ness will really bring it all together (since it does pop a bit as being added on rather than part of the whole).
