I would have done it Saturday right after the show, or Sunday but I was busy.
Having HUB network at the house gives me an advantage over the other custom Pony builders so I can start making newly unveiled characters right after they appear. Beating the competition to the draw is helpful and making the new characters while they're still new makes gives the fans that "I was first to own a _____ Pony". ^__^
My last batch sold for sub-par prices other than a couple. My material costs are usually under $5 per pony, but when you work for 5 hours or more plus dry-time in between coats, it really hurts when a pony sells for only around $10. To make a fair wage they need to sell for at least $30, and my first batch averaged at around $50 each. It can be hard to predict what will be popular, and sometimes if my work's scale or color is off-model my a few %, it can be devastating to the auction.
I have no regrets making them though. The worst I've done so far was to sell a pony for around $5, just breaking even. But I feel happy knowing that a fan is taking it home to enjoy. ^__^
