For my birthday SFennec took me on a long journey through Illinois to an unknown location where we stopped at an Applebee's for lunch. She finally let me in on her plan for my birthday. It was to see and hold a live Fennec! My excitement could hardly be contained because I felt like I had just won the lotto! Afterwards, we finished our journey and ended up at a place called Critter Camp, a sanctuary for exotic pets. We had a grand tour of the place which contained over 300 rescued animals. The anticipation was building for me after we saw a marbled fox and a crap load of bunnies and guinea pigs. After the birds I glanced over and saw the kennels where the fennecs were housed and about lost my mind, they are sooooooo adorable! The fennec in this picture is named Zoey, she was rescued after being traded off several times from owner to owner. She has a lot of issues with trusting people as a result. Then it came time for me to hold her....So soft, and small. My hands dwarfed Zoey because of their size! She didn't put up a fight and seemed to do well in my arms. I fell in love. After taking the rest of the tour we came back around again for a goodbye run, and I snapped this picture. She was such a sweetheart.
