Charlene is a rat, who, through unfortunate circumstances, is now a construct of nanomachines. She is normally a kind and gentle soul, but the nanites demand live flesh to make more of themselves and allow her to live. So the vegetarian rat must hunt, and eat, despite her revulsion. ... And as you can see, sometimes there are weird consequences to having a meal.
