Just feeling kinda cranky about politics as usual, when I'd been sort of hoping for change I could believe in. Admittedly a lot of what hasn't changed is courtesy of Congress and not the Administration at all - maybe I'm not giving Barry enough credit.

I still hold out hope, too. Our media is so biased that Americans might be far different from what we are told they are. And to be fair Obama's opponents have been criticizing his failure to get us out of the recession since November 2008, two months before he took office.
Maybe my fellow citizens will do the right thing. Maybe my President will turn out to be the guy I wanted in 2008. Maybe we'll get a Congress which doesn't block any attempt to get job stimulus packages, health care, or taxes on our billionaires.
And maybe also the recession will end, people will accept evolution as fact, and electric cars will become widespread and affordable. Sure, why not.

We're Americans. We have multi-millionaire cunts you Brits can't even match... For a country with a noteworthy tendency to sign away privacy rights at the drop of a pin, you Brits still get out there in the streets and protest, you still have viable third parties, and you've got health care.
I really hope Dubya's golf has improved over the last 10 years, because we sure did pay a lot of tax money towards it. And while I'm disappointed with Obama, I have to admit that it's not the weekly outrage that I felt under Bush II.
I'm most dissatisfied with Obama's environmental record (truthfully, a lot of the problem there is his Interior Secretary), the way he under-reacted to the whole Occupy phenomenon (he could have done something to protect the protesters from the police and didn't), and the way he reacted with Libya (it felt really, really rushed). Everything else, as we've both noticed, is largely thanks to the Republicans and some Democrats in Congress.
In a nicer USA, I'd say heck no, I'd rather a lot of people including myself withheld their votes, and Obama might both win and get the message that people are angry. But this isn't a nicer USA and I plan to vote for Obama in 2012 anyway. And Obama's not the only one up for re-election in 2012, so I still hold out some hope that the same President with a friendlier Congress and no re-election to play to will truly make changes. I doubt it but it'd be nice to be surprised.

Im rather amused by this, great idea!
Didnt like Obama all that much when he ran, and while I didnt vote for him the first time around I am almost certainly voting for him in the next election. When compared to the other candidates, think hes the best choice. I have yet to see a single GOP candidate this time around that isnt batshit crazy, has a plan thats not going to bend the country over the bench worse, or violate basic Constitutional rights.
Though, every election I look at my Vote For Cthulhu campaign kit a bit more favorably. Worlds already gone to the crapper, Cthulhu might as well hit the flusher and finish it off.
