I've been working at the sanctuary since July and the more and more I go, the more whole I feel. The Owls I have the pleasure of working for have taught me so much about myself since I've been there. When I first started there were so many chicks from the spring and now it seems from the hundreds of owls we started with, there are maybe less than 50 left! It feels so good to see so many orphans and injured owls go back into the wild with a second chance. I'm pretty sure I am here to stay at this sanctuary. The Owls complete me.
Today one of my co-workers was nice and took a few photos on me catching my favorite over aggressive great horned owl -Hogan :) She is the same age as me, as she has been with the sanctuary since 1987! She is a truely spirited and strong willed creature. I am always in awe of her strength and courage every day. She has raised so many many orphaned owls here, so it really is an honor to have some photos taken with her.
Ok, until next time :)

It really is a wonderful feeling to be able to interact with such amazing creatures :) Every bird that I worked with at Carolina Raptor Center has his/her own very distinct personality, and it was an honor to be a part of their lives. I'm glad that you get to experience this as well! :)
I love owls <3
I use to work at place called zoofari, we had a great horned owl as well he fell out of his nest when he was a baby but for some reason that owl never really like males he only prefers to work with females. he was one smart bird lol to bad they changed there age limit to volunteer there :C *major sad face* oh well
well that most be a cool place to work at :3 I'd work at a sanctuary for animals too but the closet one is a wolf sanctuary and you need lots of experience around wild animals so I don't think I can work there quiet yet but maybe some day :3

I really envy and feel happy for you. (You rescue orphan owls...You're pretty much a Guardian! )
I would love to work in a bird sanctuary, but I have to finish my studies before trying this. I plan of practicing falconry for bird-recovery and educational purposes, so I'm planning to follow biology and volunteering to a bird shelter to learn how to properly take care of them.
Just asking, which is the weirdest owl species you have on the sanctuary? Is more common to rescue barn owls than great grey owls, for example? Which is the common reason of the owlets of being orphan?
...Sorry for the question bombarding.

Wow! That is really awesome of you to spend your time and energy on these owls. I'm so happy they have taught you so much and have helped you realize so much about your self. You must be a very special person to do such a good deed and have the owls care for you so much (obviously the devious Hogan loves you. Just wanted to act cool for the camera ;) lol). I hope you spend a long fulfilling time at the sanctuary!
My favorite owls!! It's so cool to see a picture like this of you doing what you love, just like that video you sent me. I'm so proud of you and I know what a great feeling that is to be able to work with the animals that complete you, hopefully someday I'll be able to do the same, until then I'll just have to eagerly watch and visit them.
