My girlfriend and I were discussing that, actually. I had never seen them out and about, but I guess in an more upscale neighborhood she lived in, there was occasionally caroling organized by the HOAs. And the non-carolers would participate by providing cookies and cocoa. I guess like a december based halloween. With more singing.
I think when I was in scouts as a child we did some caroling, but room to room at an old folk's home? I'm not sure I remember correctly.
