Lightning and Rainbows
Cynder was walking through the Radiant Isles after the defeat of Kaos, the other Skylanders resuming to resent her because of her past.
“Why do they hate me so much…?” Cynder said with a sigh while looking at the Shattering Sigil.
She closed her eyes, the memories of what she had done under the Dark Master’s control returning to her. Without knowing, her eyes began to fill with tears.
“But that was a long time ago, I’m not like that anymore….”, She said, wiping the tears away.
She sighed again and opened her eyes, turning to go back to her lonely home when the area began to crumble.
“What?!”, She said before the ground she was standing on collapsed, sending her falling into the cloud sea.
Luckily, Cynder was able to stabilize herself long enough to glide to the rock wall which was once the Shattering Sigil’s alter. She grabbed onto the wall just in time before she was bombarded by the falling rocks. She tried to jump from ledge to ledge to avoid the rocks, but she didn’t notice the large boulder falling straight towards her until it was too late. The ledge she was standing on broke under the pressure of the boulder and Cynder was left falling straight down, down into the cloud sea.
Cynder awoke later on a bed of leaves. She looked around and saw that she was back on land.
“What happened?” She said, rubbing her pained head.
She had been knocked unconscious by a piece of the boulder that made her fall. She stood and tried to walk, but she was still weak from the fall. That was when she heard rustling in a nearby bush. She got into an offensive stance when the rustling became louder. She was ready to attack until she saw the beautiful, half unicorn half wind dragon known as Whirlwind, step out of the bush, carrying a few berries with her.
“You’re Whirlwind, what are you doing here?” Cynder asked.
Whirlwind walked over and placed the berries near Cynder.
“I was looking for Kali when I saw you falling, so I flew up and caught you” Whirlwind said, “Then I picked these berries for you”
Cynder looked shocked, “You…saved me? Why?”
“You were in trouble, that’s why. I couldn’t let you die” Whirlwind answered.
“But…you’re not afraid of me…?” Cynder asked
“Why would I be?” Whirlwind asked
Cynder shook her head, “You haven’t heard about my past?”
“I have, but that was your past, you are a kind dragon now” Whirlwind answered.
Cynder looked at Whirlwind in disbelieve. None of the other Skylanders would go near her, let alone talk to her. But here was Whirlwind, who actually saved her, brought her food, and was even talking to her and accepting her. She began to cry, but not from sadness, from happiness, happiness that she found someone that accepted her.
“Are you okay? Are you in pain?” Whirlwind asked concerned.
“I’m okay, I’m just happy to have met you” Cynder replied.
“Happy to have met me? That’s the first time someone has said that to me” Whirlwind said.
“What do you mean?” Cynder asked, wiping the tears away from her eyes.
“Because of my ancestry, other dragons shun me for my beauty and the unicorns banished me from their homeland…” Whirlwind replied.
“That sounds horrible, but there’s one dragon who accepts you” Cynder said.
“Who?” Whirlwind asked.
The answer became apparent when Cynder kissed Whirlwind’s cheek.
“C-Cynder?” Whirlwind asked, blushing a deep red
“We’re both outcasts in our own way, but we’ll never be alone as long as we have each other” Cynder said with a smile on her face.
“Yeah, you’re right” Whirlwind said.
Both dragons smiled at each other then look up at the sky as the sun set. Earlier, these dragons were loners, looking for companionship, now happy that they found it in each other.
