Ah.. it's how I build all of my heads actually! Resin base to start then I adjust if from there for the actual species/character.

I used to do it in a basement in winter but I don't advise it no.

Lol yeah the resin and foam alike ;P As long as it's even enough not to mess up the fur going on top, I'm not really one for perfectly even surfaces - might as well put my time into the details that matter XD

Very lovely! However, snow mews have much smaller and narrower muzzles. This looks almost cougar-ish.

I have to very much disagree on the cougar statement - Snow leopards have rather blocky heads and are not particularly delicate http://images.nationalgeographic.co.....12_600x450.jpg which the shape will be even more evident once I start adding fur. A cougar by contrast is more like a house cat sized up and has a much shorter muzzle than what I have here. http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1129.....20b1b4b082.jpg I lengthened the muzzle exactly because otherwise it *would* have looked cougarish.

Though on second thought, it may very well be the thick fur around the cheeks and neck that make the muzzle seem narrower in proportion.

The thick fur also contributes their blocky appearance. The head feature unique to snow leopards is the small ears, which reduces the surface area and heat loss in their cold environment.

The outside curve of the muzzle in the photo is right in the middle of the eye, the foamwork is the same. You have to consider how adding thick fur to the head and short fur to the muzzle affects the final outcome. Plus consider the overall 'effect' of the costume. I would rather error on the side of making this particular suit look more leonine and impressive than kittenish.

I assume all the pattern lines are so the fur follows the contour of the base and the arrows show the direction of the nap? Are the letters the fur type?

Partially - it's also just what looks good. Letter are fur type yup. Length/colour.

I just love your cats, perfect. My own personal suit is half foam and half resin and he turned out awesome! cant wait to see this one done.

Looking gorgeous, was showing your work to some of my extend family and they were amazed. I love the feeling you are able to portray with each of your suits once they are done.
