SKETCH - Grey Wolf Speed-Painting
Dated 03/12/2011
My new journalism course has been pretty all-consuming for the past couple of months, so it's been a while since I've had an opportunity to do any artwork at all. However, most of my assignments are now completed and the Christmas holidays start next week, so there looks to be light at the end of the tunnel.
In celebration of having a small amount of time to play with on Saturday, I felt like reacquainting myself with pencil and paper with some light sketching. I've never felt confident drawing canine faces, so I spent an hour or so this evening sketching some head studies from photographs.
I was quite happy with the way this particular wolf sketch came out, so I decided I wanted to try colouring it. However, as my time remains limited and my colouring normally takes hours/days, I thought I'd simply try out a bit of speed painting - something I've never really done before. Considering my inexperience, I'm pleasantly surprised by the results.
The sketch was drawn from a photograph I downloaded a couple of years ago, which I've subsequently discovered was actually by
vargtass - see the original photo here: http://www.furaffinity.net/view/2028774/
I'll move this to scraps shortly, but just a little something to try and revive my page a bit. Hopefully there will be some proper work from me over Christmas.
