I am just thankful my cat Gucci acts more like a dog than a cat at time. She doesn't claw my furniture (only the office room carpet a bit), always uses her litter box, doesn't climb up high (highest she will go is the top of the couch), and knows how to sit and have good manners while I am feeding her. Oh and she will come when you call her name and "answer" you with a questioning Meow as she does so.
Her only drawbacks is that she has some major food allergies thus her food is uber expensive and if I don't get the mix *just* right she will spend the entire day vomiting...usually in the office or on one of the cushions on my couch >.<

aww, she sounds so cute! ;w;
my cats are MUCH better than they were when they were kittens, Pepper is very dog-like too and neither of them will ever bite or scratch outside of gentle playing. =u= They are super patient and very sweet, even when we're bothering them they never strike out or hold grudges. They both use the litter box all the time too - the pee accident was because Pepper had urinary tract infections. :c

Glad to hear they grew out of their destruction. Gucci, the name my cat came with, seems to want to avoid anything that would make me mad. But again she came that way too, never have done anything to suggest I would be mad at her (other than the carpet clawing). Her nervousness goes so far as to if she gets into playing with one of her few toys and I move in any way she will instantly stop playing and go hide in the office for a few minutes. But she really is a cute cat, and my first to actually bond with me :)
You probably know this now but to avoid kitty UTI make sure they have access to plenty of clean water at all times. That is what my vet told me. Especially if they only get dry kibble for their main diet.

Lol I Understand the blinds/lamp/wires/and chairs. >.< My cat has knocked over lamps.. All the blinds in the house are broken. X-mas tree is funny looking. and all the chairs are scratching post. ^.^ I love my cats.. The little devils they are. >< Hope the cost wont get to high with your cats. lol
*best Cat memory* Cat is hanging on blinds looks at me. "WAH?" cat says and keeps to climbing ... >.> Spray with water still climbs.. I hate you long hair cat.

Oh man, I don't know if i laughed harder at the picture or the comments below. xD I have been called a crazy cat lady so much recently, my girlfriend and I took in 5 foster kittens in the end of October... (They were farm cats and most likely wouldn't make it through winter, hence why we snatched them up and brought them back to our one bedroom apartment.) I've got to say, they're a lot less destructive than your kitties. .__.; I completely understand the charger cord issue... My actual cat, Jack is currently 7 months... But when he was a baby he liked jumping onto my cord and biting it, he ended up actually pulling it apart so that the wires were exposed. I'm on my third charger cord since December 2010. -___-;
And I don't know what kind of computer you are but try looking on eBay if it happens again, you can find really decently priced ones and as long as you make sure you find the right one they generally work well.... It's just keeping the cats off of them after you get the new one. haha.

oh my god, 5 in a one bedroom apartment..,!! D: That sounds like it must have been so much work. Two in our two-bedroom is more than enough for us, LOL.
Unfortunately I have a mac, which has really particular charger cords u_u there were no cheap ones to be had. Luckily my dad helped me pay for it. My friend has a similar situation to you with charger cords, she's really pissed she has to change them so much.

My girlfriend said she loves cats but if one of them ever did that to her charger Mac cord... They'd be on a missing poster or something. x__X; I accidentally broke hers right before the move, we spent like $60 just replacing half of it so that definitely makes sense.
The charger cords for my computer have at least been easier to find... I'm also on my third battery and I've bought two that haven't worked for my computer... *sigh*
The biggest problem we had with the five was the litter box situation, we had to make makeshift ones out of old boxes from when we'd moved.... And we had one who just "forgot" how to use it after the first couple of days so we also had plastic bags all over our apartment because she'd go on them but not in the box. But it's been worth it! We've adopted two of them out to new homes and decided to keep a little long haired girl with an old tail injury, she has a stump that moves and reacts to touch but the rest that hangs doesn't have any feeling. haha

LOL, our toilet paper stack right now has HUGE chunks ripped out of it from when Peppercorn had the zoomies a couple nighs ago. XD
He eats everything too! Just the other day he got into a little container of nacho cheese, ate the entire thing, then barfed everywhere. >:C

Honestly declawing is incredibly painful for cat and there are other ways to keep them from scratching. Look at it this way - you're literally removing their first knuckle. Look at your hand, and imagine having your first knuckle (the one with the fingernail on it) removed. After they're declawed it hurts them to even WALK for a really long time. Just thought you should know the facts.
I totally understand this x.x I just got my kitten so far but she hasn't had the time to attack it all. My chair is a certain material that her claws get stuck to so she LOVES scratching and sleeping on it even though she has 2 scratchers. She is such a handful for being 4months old x.x. My little Siamese kitten.. She has also nom'd my ears to death, leaving scars x.x. Cats are sometimes more than we expect..But we can't help but love them~
We really should be a little better with cleaning our cat's boxes every day, we usually leave it for a couple. >_> It's a really bad habit. Luckily it's been a long time since they peed on anything - when Peppercorn peed on the cover it turned out he had a terrible urinary tract infection, so he was upset. He's not much of a scratcher any more, though they do both love their corrugated cardboard scratcher pyramid! *u* Those things are the absolute best scratchers, I've found. Even Paprika, who doesn't have claws on her front feet, tries to use it lol.
I used to be a dog trainer, so I ended up applying a lot of my techniques on the cats. XD Pepper is especially good and will go into his crate when asked, sit, give paw, and knows 'leave it' (though that one still needs a bit of work). c:
Maybe I'll look into making this a print somewhere! Hahah, I'd love to have it on my walls too. 8D

Dogs can destroy just as much shit. There are good cats and bad cats, my cat just hangs out and gets love, scratches on her post, never chews whats she's not supposed to, etc. My mom has a bad dog and a good dog, they all think the bad one is cute though but he's a little buttface and I hate him. >:I The good dog is SUCH a good girl.
I don't really get this - All three of my cats are complete dolls. They have never destroyed anything that wasn't theirs to do so with (stuffed animals are just pieces of fluff nowadays..) but cords, sheets, carpets, anything that cat's always seem to destroy, they never have.
Sounds to me like your kitties need some discipline!

i feel your pain, i had to replace an ipod cable becouse of my little monster i mean cat..... i've taken to shutting my door so that delightfull little ball of claws and fangs doesn't keep me up at night wanting pettings. bengals are such great pets.... i have to admit though, watching him climb the frigirator chasing the red dot is amusing.
He's a little hellion, I found him on top of the tv this morning, and it's only 2 inches wide on top. My ex had a cute Bengal though, she would hop up on my shoulder and ride around. They are an interesting breed though, if they had thumbs they'd give us a run for our money.
Capribebe, You so nailed it with this. We have had cats since my wife and I married, 32 years ago. We now have 7, and have gone through just about all you show. Include in that on that ate an entire coiled telephone cord. the left the pieces from both ends all around the house.
The moral of this story is: "There's no such thing as a free kitten!"
But we love 'em all, anyway.

One time my grandfather got my grandmother a really beautiful Aloe plant. It lasted exactly 3 days. Their cat at the time ate it all. o___o
Granted, this is the same cat that ate her straw flowers and regularly broke lamps he didn't like. We knew that was the case because the ones he liked... they're still alive.
