Gem sat there, in the mud, unsure what to do. She had been allowed in the garden for a few moments, but her parents had both told her very VERY sternly not to get messy, Everyone was going to a wedding, Gem had even been told she was being a flower girl. She didnt know what that meant, she HAD been happy being a squirrel girl, but she thought it might be something super important cause her mama had done something new with her hair today.
Gem had been told to be on her best behaviour and she recognised that no nonsence tone of voice, so she had understood that it was super important to do what she was told today.

She had been very careful for at least 5 whole minutes in the garden, swishing the wierd frilly dress and making super importantly NOT to touch the bow that her mama had put in her hair because it ahd been really tricky to get just right. When Gem had then seen the baby snake. At first she had squealed and tripped over her tail in an attempt to run away from the small pink thing wiggling in the mud. But then she had gotten worried, perhaps it was in trouble and needed rescuing. She looked around for the mummy and daddy snake hoping the baby's parents would come and save it as it squirmed in the mud.
Gem was scared, but she was even more scared for the baby snake and crawled into the mud so that she wouldn't fall over and get dirty.
She had tried to pluck the wiggling pink snake up and had kinda squished it a little bit by the time she had finally managed to pull it out of the mud.

"I saved yoo. " She whispered to the snake. "Don' bite me" She told it sternly knowing that the snake should do as she told it now cause she had saved it.
Her ears perked up as she heard her dada calling from the house that it was almost time to go. She looked at the baby snake then back at the door to the house. She wondered if she would be allowed to bring it with her...

LAFFIN!!!! This is SOOOOO me. My parents never could keep me tidy and clean. They gave up putting me in cute dresses cause i would just tear them trying to clamber into the compost heap or something equally grubby.
I also remember child logic once where I had been told to stay clean and me and my sister went off into the woods on an adventure. We came across a field full of mud and long grass and worried we would get dirty I came up with a genius plan to tie our knee length white socks around our knees so that they wouldnt get dirty. Well the grass came up to our waist and because we had taken our shoes off to get our socks off my sister lost her shoes LOL Anyway yeah..I got quite a spanking for that little expidition. LOL Kids!
