The fact that wolves are enemies in role playing games does not mean any kind of stupidity.
Wolves are considered more hostile than friendly, I believe.

There was never much of a too good A.I.
There's either none, or low. Skyrim has pretty bad A.I. for example, and I can't think of any game with good ones.

If you look for games that provide enjoyment and only that, they are unheard freewares, that become pretty popular long afterwards.
The bigger developers will create games that suit their main audience. Main audience enjoy shiny graphics and modification.
Games won't change too much through this route, unless you develop your own.

Wolves, when are hunted, have suffecient food and little to no contact with humans, and in small numbers, provide minimal danger to humans.
Many, though, have been killed in wolf attacks, but mostly in the past centuries. I still wouldn't call wolves friendly. A possible enemy is hostile nontheless.
Even though, I'd rather see more wolves running away from you in games rather than attacking you.

I do not know any person who thinks all bats suck blood. Most everybody say there's at least one species that sucks blood. Others would mention fruit bats.

In Skyrim they made many creatures including foxes run away from you. Wolves should have been like that.

In Skyrim it seems the bears are super badass. The game should really have been made not about an invasion of dragons, but almighty bears!

Wow I so agree with you, I hate those damn bears!
The scaling really fails with those.
Bears are the reason I stopped Oblivion until Mods that overhaul the game were out.
