True Story: The first "God of War" was supposed to open with Kratos having an annoying fairy helper in the style of Navi who would teach you the controls and such... before getting one-shotted by the first hydra-head encounter (the one below decks on the ship). The idea was to get across a 'this is a different sort of adventure game' vibe. Upon later reflection the developers felt it unintentionally set the wrong mood and cut it.
