Oof! In the midst of designing the r <3 g 4-ever!!! webpage, and thought this might be of interest to y'all.
It didn't occur to me until now that I had to choose a more realistic color for my lobster character once their shell finished forming -- in previous iterations of JFC and the like, he would have either a strikingly red or gorgeous navy blue hue to him; this was before I paid attention to actual, real-life facts when looking up crucial anatomical details of my characters. I chose the color shown here BEFORE I looked up a reference photo of an actual living lobster, and I have to say I'm proud of my intuition, in this case.
Another reason to be proud: I drew these two characters entirely from memory, and they look basically perfect now that the image is finished. THIS IS HOW I ROLL, BABY! >:O

It's tough to tell. The pictures shown here are retouched mugshots taken from the Albany police department, after a policecar stopped at the red light of an intersection as the two characters shown here were in the process of crossing it diagonally in early 2003. The file the photographs were taken from listed the lobster's sex as male, but speculation exists among diehard R. Brennan fans that suggests they may have simply taken that information off his driver's license from before the incident in 2002 that brought his gender into question.
Regardless, it's the same lobster. :O
