This particular 'scales' texture is simple layering of photoshop standard textures on overlay. I was lazy. Lol

Your art isn't bad, its just a different style. I like it and think its good. Don't give up on art, let things like this inspire you. Plus, Dark is right. Practice is the key. Practice tones, shapes, light and shadow. Don't give up until you think you've got it and then study it some more. It'll always surprise you. Dark and I are always surprised and we both practice a lot.

Nice thing about drawing creatures that don't actually exist is that nobody can say when something looks wrong. You did a great job. Can I steal the sources for some of your textures that you render with? :D

Ummm.. this particular scale texture was a random default photoshop texture, put on overlay because I was being really lazy, and the sky was made with a few space brushes that i've got.. idk where, they'er old as old. The trees are some old brushes too. Just part of what i've collected over the years. I've got to many brushes to count. The rest was all hand done with a flat brush. ______ <-- kind of like that, but in varying sizes.
