Sometimes an artist just doesn’t know what to draw. “Sometimes?” You have the urge, but nothing comes to mind and the question “What to Draw” goes over and over again in your mind and with each revolution the block grows bigger.
This is a relatively quick layout drawing done on my lunch break where the most mundane of drawing ideas gets its chance to have me put it down on paper. And that is one day's answer to the question. 'What to draw?' Draw something!

Yes, your heart is definitely in the right place, Takota. But since that is sorta internal and not easily visible without some very unpleasant stuff being done to you, I think I'll just focus on the more visible aspects of your anatomy. Please send your "donation" along. I'll pay for the postage.

I usually do, Indagare. Things around the house that are mostly boring; typing e-mail, mowing the lawn, listening to particular types of music for instance. Then it's just slipping off the chains of my imagination and seeing where it takes me with those subjects. I am very often surprised with the results.

I think we all have, Seven, and usually come out of it eventually. But since we know what it feels like to be suffering a 'dry spell' then it's a subject that should be drawn up occasionally if for no other reason than there's an audience out there that will be nodding their heads and saying, 'Yeah, I've been like that every now and then".
:D

I honestly wish I could understand what it was exactly that occasionally blocks me. Is it some sort of subconscious rebellion on my mind's part against my drawing only furry subjects? Is it because my creativity (subconscious) is bored with those subjects and wants me to do something that IT finds interesting?
I find an answer of sorts in doing random subjects that occasionally are later turned into full-fleged furry pictures such as “What To Draw”. That apparently pleases my creative spirit enough so that in the end I only rarely go through the dreaded "dry spell".

Oh I think that "dry spells" occur to most of us in the Arts whether it's drawing, writing, sculpting, or composing music. You've shown your writing talents very well, Nine, by described it so well. "You get the unmistakable WRITE explosion in your head and then go blank".
:D
Dealing with one's creativity is like trying to deal with a willful six-year-old. You can't beat them into doing what you want, you have to think around their stubbornness and either cajole them out of it or turn your back on them and ignore them until they come around to getting your attention again by doing what you wanted from them in the first place.

That's the problem with us self-analytical people. We think about the fact that we're thinking about something. Sorta like seeing our image in a mirror looking into the mirror with a mirror behind us reflecting the image of us looking into a mirror an infinity of times. Try posing that to your Creativity and it'll be darn happy to just produce furry drawings, HA!

No apologies necessary, Stevenc. As enjoyable as receiving them are, I'm not in it for collecting favs. What I am in art for is to make people think, or laugh, or in some way enjoy being themselves through the feelings that hopefully my art awakens in them. Favs to me are a way for viewers' to "applaud" the success in my artwork in doing that.
Heh, and sometimes silly drawings like this one achieve that distinction.
Thanks.
