RIP Harry Morgan, WCOTP Tribute
We lost Harry Morgan on December 7th. Best known for his rolls as Colonel Potter on MASH and Detective Gannon on Dragnet.
Plus a veteran actor of over 100 films as well. One of the rare actors that filled just the right roll. The way he was Jack Webbs Ying to Webbs Yang.
I myself will always remember him as Colonel Sherman T Potter, US Cavalry.

I loved that man as Colonel Sherman T. Potter. ;;^;; He lived a very long life. I was surprised to see him in a MASH reunion last year when they hosted a MASH marathon. I agree wtih you he was an incredible actor that fit the role just right. I loved him in Dragnet and as the military general from Disney's Cat from Outer Space. Even from the Apple DUmpl'n Gang as the Sherriff, town barber, and judge.
WHat I loved most about his was his voice and hair. Even those glasses, he had a strong character whether he had those things on or off.
Rest in Peach Harry Morgan. Thank you for the wonderful memories. We will miss you.

as Col. Potter..."Regular Army" but having a humane touch.
as Detective Bill Gannon...a quiet comic contrast to Joe Friday's stern approach to the law. A hypochrondriac, a health nut, a little henpecked...but just as dedicated to catching the bad guys as Friday.
Harry Morgan also starred in the first successful spinoff sitcom show..."Pete and Gladys" which was spun off from the series "December Bride".

Harry Morgan was one of those rare character actors that could shine, even in minor or cameo roles.
It was said that Harry's brilliant 'over the top' performance as wacky General Steele in an earlier episode of M*A*S*H led to him getting the permanent cast role of Col. Potter in Season 4. Among his movie roles I remember was of a tycoon businessman in the Western comedy movie "Support Your Local Sheriff"
Harry Morgan was one of the most versatile actors in Hollywood, not just in his prime, but in his 'senior' years as well.
He will be greatly missed.
