out of sheer curiosity, what sort of games do you play?

RPgs, puzzle games, micromanagement games, adventure, etc. My favorites are spyro and slycooper of the latter genre.

There way more female gamers now a days. Depending on the Genre the number of females players are the same as boys. While taking some 3d modeling classes my teachers did point out the lack of female game developers... So generally they still lack a females touch.. Take it with a grain of salt.

That's kind of sexist. Imagine it the other way round, a female dominated past time or feild isn't as good as it could be because it's lacking "A mans touch".

Its does sound a bit sexiest but that wasn't my aim. Generally the ratio between male and female game developers isn't the same as it game player ratio. Developers are in desparite need of more female developers in the field. I'm sure why... I'm sure men can men can make pony game as well as females can make gory shooters.

The problem is with the lack of female developers problem is that games development isn't some old boys club with tradition and honour and all that, but rather the lack of women who both want to make games and have the skills for it.

I've heard the claim before that men are engineers, women are the soul, but as already mentioned, that's very insulting to men, and insulting to women in that it assumes a pair of breasts give you some undefined super power to compensate for lack of technical skill.

I feel like doing this sometimes..just love it.

My daughter has a Wii and an Xbox. I didn't know there was anything weird about a girl having an Xbox. Not that it would have made any difference... she wants to design video games when she grows up, so I figure she should have her hands on every system that she can while she's a kid.

And no, what console you have really doesn't matter. Most of the best games are multi-platform. It pretty much comes down to controller preference and whether or not you're willing to pay for online.

PS3 gamer right here.... but I never play games on it. It's essentially used as a really expensive Blu-ray player. I have the games I bought with it (Resistance, GT5P and a few others) and aside from GT5 I haven't played a single one... I've probably played on the PS2 for longer in total, and all I have for that is the first Ratchet and Clank game.

My Steam account on the other hand..? Well, let's just say... "Hi, I'm SuburbanFox, and I'm a PC gamer."

If I had a quid for every time someone told me I should have bought an Xbox instead of the PS3... I could buy my own private island and retire. Seems hating on the other platforms is a required act for anyone playing games online. The few times I've played online, I had voice chat turned off. I'd make an exception for  genesisw though -- hearing her make up new and amusing curses on the fly just adds to the fun of gaming. Case in point: "Peenwhack."

I just finished a major report on sex-role depiction in the media. My resurrect indicated that, while males are seen at play long into their teens, females are expected to mature much more quickly. There are very few toys manufactured specifically for girls past the age of 13. Those that do exist appear to uphold traditional gender roles of parenthood and household living.

In much the same way, video games have been seen as a predominantly masculine pastime. I think that is grotesquely unfair and, as a game designer and as a writer, I have tried my best to create content which can be enjoyed by everyone.

And the great thing is, someone somewhere with a furry foot and asphyxiation fetish is getting off to this somewhere. You are welcome for that mental image.

Where the hell did you get a wired Xbox controller?

I don't know where you live, so I can't answer you fully, but in alot of places it comes down local culture. Generally speaking, wii is for casuals and fanboy nerds, Xbox is for hyper masculine arse holes with its focus on manly man action games, and the PS3 is somewhere in the middle and is seen as having more japanese story based stuff. That's a harsh generallisation of course, but you get the idea.

Now, I'm a guy.... but I'm certainly better then any girl I know at shooters and racing games.

Women wipe the floor with me at jrpgs, rhythm games (ddr pwnage >:O), casual games, new platformers and... nothing else comes to mind...

Any girl who's WILLING to play modern warfare 2 may indeed become better then I ever will be, but for the most part they don't seem to have the drive to do so.

I'm a ps3 owner, I got it for MGS4, and it is my second-most played game, behind MW2 which I don't even honestly like that much. it's just basic MMO theory why that gets so fucking boring. Anyways, MGS4: when I first got the game, I stared at so much cleavage you wouldn't even believe... ...but after finding the furry fandom, now I consistently stare at snake's ass when he's crawling. thanks FA :p
