Storm Princess worldbuilding sketches
Twilight Sparkle, zealot of Cloudsdale and liaison to the Storm Foundation, commutes and does errand work using her personal speeder, a low-altitude hovercraft that, while not particularly fast or powerful, is a valuable conveyance that enables earth ponies and unicorns to use the airlanes for traveling around the sky city instead of being relegated to the crowded pedestrian terraces and catwalks. The most common model of personal speeder generates lift and thrust from a single crystal motor/thruster mounted in a central "wheel" which also houses circular control rails and mounts for the aerofoils. Its relatively poor measure of power, combined with its full-range sensor array and redundant AR overlay, presents even the most casual pilot with a safe and manageable machine. Not pictured: safety harnesses and helmet.
Twilight has possessed a flight license for nearly a year, and is currently accident-free for twenty days—a personal record.
