Had a crazy thought to do one of these, did a plant design earlier in the month but the design was far from finished, and just kinda thought it was a cool idea where as part of the shift, the skin sort of came off like leaves falling off a tree... I dunno, maybe there was something funky in my dinner. I was happy with the results overall.
Will be inking it proper digitally and, well hope you guys like it =)
Done in pen, and feedback is welcome.
Also, it was recently suggested in my journal by:

yeah, plants are underused. they are so unique that I don't even know where to place them on the monstrosity scale (ie. I have a generic ranking system of monstrosity that goes from human < furry were-thing < lizard/sea-monster < insect on the monstrosity scale; I know one could avert this on purpose, but in general, it's easier to make things monstery [especially in regards to tf] the further you go down the list). I guess plants are just too varied to write off like that.
Well, i think it's more of the un-moving factor, or moving/growing so slowly that it seems stationary. It was a lot of fun trying to figure out which elements of them to use initially for this. I honestly think one of the biggest challenges with trying the plant out was to make it look sort of right, well again, that whole making sense in my head bit. All i can hope for after that is that it's well received.
Whoa! I love it! <3
I agree with the comments put forth--cool tendrils, great expression as usual, nice pose. The distinctly non-animal qualities are intriguing, especially those hungry-looking tendrils on his back. I especially like the peculiar and differing shape of the arms, almost like they're made up of multiple vines. This is definitely one of my favorites from you. =3
