Yeah. I hate it when regional spelling differences come up and make problems. I'm pretty sure that what i ended up with was the UK spelling when i was looking for the Americanized spelling since it's usually what makes sense given how the phonetics have changed over the years.

Oh yeah, you can see a clear line of progression in a lot of cases where, like you said, the STG44 turns to the AKM47 and then to the 74, Saiga, Dragnov etc Alternatively H&K developed their whole MP line based on the same WW2 model.
