Oh boy, I can already hear the groans from that title. :P
*Really* late in submitting this, but for Halloween this year (2011) I was challenged by a friend to use the leftover fur from the Kaynus suit and create a satyr costume out of it. Well, after one (stupid busy) month of frantic work, it came together just in time to strut around work for a couple of hours and bleat at people. Did I ever mention that I love my job?
Anyway, first attempt at digitigrade legs, and the pads are completely separate from the legs, so the legs are fully washable (hooray!). The scarf was not made by me, but by a very good friend (who is awesome at knitting). And yes, I finally post something with my face in it. OH NOES!
If I ever manage to get a DJ gig at a furry con, there is an extremely good chance I'll be wearing this while mixing. It's actually fairly comfortable and I don't overheat very quickly, which is wonderful, so I could feasibly walk around for many hours without a problem.

Heeee heeeeee so awesome. ^_^ Very creative Halloween look - love how the scarf totally makes it all work too. What most folks don't see are all the other pictures you had where you're being all goofy, which totally works for the Satyr look too (even though that's just you being you). :D
Ha ha, thanks! I guess I could have also posted some of the other photos, but the hooves weren't finished in those and you could still see some of the green foam underneath (plus, the vinyl covering job I did at 1am that morning sucked as I just didn't care anymore, heh). The new hoof coverings are better, but still not perfect--really need to figure out a way to sew the whole thing shut instead of relying on hot glue.
I'm sure there will be many more goofy photos to come of antics in this costume, though. :P The only downside is that now my co-workers just expect me to have some crazy costume each year, and they're starting to make requests for what the next one should be--this could get expensive and/or tiring in a hurry, ha ha ha.

Weee, thanks! :D I feel like I still have a bunch to learn about fursuit/costume construction, but it at least feels doable now (and not crazy intimidating).
Yeah, definitely got that comment a lot during our work Halloween party. :P I did try looking for a prosthetic nose and ear tips to go with the costume as well, but didn't have much luck (of course, doing this search 1 week before Halloween didn't help, ha ha). Might have to resume the hunt for those parts before the next con...
Heh, well, as long as I don't plan on wearing a huge sphere with glowing eyes I'll hopefully be safe from claims of trademark infringement from the Mau5. :P

Just let me know about what time next year I need to start pestering you about making your own suit again and I'll get right on it. :P I can't wait to see what you come up with, and hope we actually get a chance to suit together again! I still have fond memories of being goofy on the train at Sunset Park. :P
Yeah, building the first suit on your own (if you don't already have all of the gear) isn't super cheap, but after the initial investment the cost drops significantly (thank goodness, and not counting time, of course :P).
As to the next tour, maybe we can keep an eye out for a nicer weekend Jan-Feb of next year? It would be nice to play Rocky Mount without foliage (or heat). :D

Thanks! :) The digitigrade legs weren't as hard as I thought they would be, though my securing system for the pads needs some revisions (the top pads tend to start slipping after some use--I added belt loops to help keep them in place, but they only do so much). The sad thing is that I still have some gray fur left, but it's not enough to do much of anything with. If I'm lucky I could *maybe* squeeze a tail out of it, but I'm not even sure there's a large enough scrap for that.
I'll definitely be wearing this around FWA, so you will probably get a chance to see it there. Should be a lot better for the raves than a full suit! :P

Ha ha, awesome, yeah, I remember you! :D The guy in the gas mask is one of my best friends, and also one of the DJs at Sonic Sphere's Nexus on Tuesday (one of these events I'll hopefully be able to get one of the DJ slots as well). That was such a fun show, probably one of the best ones of theirs that I've been to yet. :)
Ah damn. Sometimes I really wished I lived in Raleigh. Two years ago I hosted and DJ'ed some raves down in Fayetteville that got a lot of interest of all those that went, but getting people out and about in Fayetteville for raves was a pain in the ass and tough on funds. Mostly now I DJ online. Got to love my house, hardstyle, hardcore, dubstep, and so forth. If I was in Raleigh I'd be going to events like this as often as possible and trying to physically spin some turn tables. Heheh.
