So you don't know what a 'Sonic boom' is? Stay still and you'll soon find out...
Trying to get Christmas off to a productive start with a picture that has been on my 'to-do list' for some time. I can't actually remember how long ago I started sketching this, but only since finishing my first term at university have I found the time to resume work on it. Thankfully, Sonic's simplistic styling makes him fairly easy to draw (albeit with some minor issues with the anatomy from this perspective) so I was able to get the drawing finished and coloured within 24 hours.
Ironically it was December 2010 when I last drew Sonic, so hopefully one year on there are some improvements. This is however the first time I've drawn him barefoot; something which a number of people have asked me about since last year. I'm still not hugely confident with drawing 5-toed feet, though I think this is one of my best efforts at doing so to date.
No need for too much further blah anyway - with any luck this will be the first of a few pieces over the next couple of weeks before the new term, motivation and January exam revision time permitting!

I just don't like Tails, to be honest - regardless of what ages they were originally meant to be, I always saw Sonic and Knuckles as adults (or at least mature teens) and Tails as some annoying little kid that hangs around with them; not something I find attractive, I'm afraid!

I love how he's holding the removed sock in his hand. I think that adds so much; it lets us know that sole is hot and moist, fresh from its confines; but moreso we see it's dirtied, so that luscious blue sole is going to have the hearty, wonderful rich smell as it comes down upon us. The colours are deep and vibrant, and you manage to convey both size and power but with softness and warmth to the bottom of that foot... it's as inviting as it is threatening.
I think this has to be one of your more accomplihed pieces for its elegant yet powerful simplicity.

yip yip YAY! I agree: so much is conveyed by context with Sonic holding his sock, implying that he's just pulled off his famous RED sneakers and socks just to play footies WITH US!
I'm obviously not the only one waiting for years to see this POV: his huge soft bare foot coming to play 'wif us with a teasing yet playful look on his face.
For anyone attempting this for cosplay, there are Vibram 5-fingers toe-booties with BLUE SOLES for your feet to look just like Sonic's!

Heh didn't think you'd draw a barefoot Sonic pic considering the comment you gave in reply to someone on that last Sonic pic you did. You weren't too keen on having him barefoot, apparently. But I think you did a pretty good job on his bare foot, and on him as a whole. Nice job on the perspective as well. :)
Heh - well I've drawn Sonic socked before ( http://www.furaffinity.net/view/4977091/ ) so I don't think I'll be doing a socked version of this. But thanks anyway!
