Yeah, pretty common. He's a hooded rat, which usually have a stripe down their back. But there are a lot of hoodies about who don't have the correct markings, so they just get dots or splodges on their back rather than the 'proper' stripe. This guy's dad also had a broken stripe, and had more spots than a proper stripe, so he's just inherited those crappy markings :P
