I always loved seeing what setups other artists use for their work area so I thought I'd share my own! Had this photo around for a long time, just never got around to submitting it. Only thing that has changed since then is a new mouse and keyboard.
But yeah, I LOVE PLANTS OMG. I try and keep my workspace clean and simple :) I use an older cintiq21ux for drawing and its really easy to move around being on that little table. Works well for me.
Also, I use a computer i built myself! I'll list the specs for anyone who might be curious
case - antec 1200
motherboard - ASUS RampageIII Gene
processor - intel i7 930 OC'd 4.2 Ghz
12 gb ddr3 ram
sli gtx 480s (nvidia surround!)
corsair h50 heatsink
crucial c300 64gb SSD
4 500gb HDs in raid0
2 normal 500gb drives
1200 watt powersupply

I'll scrap this later.

Oh wow Very close to my stats but i run less memory and i use an AMD processor
GOOD choice on the cooling as i got the very same liquid cooling h50, except i removed the factory heatsink gel and used a better thermal paste
i need to upgrade my motherboard as it is a cheapy last resort thing... LOVE the setup! so welcoming with the plants around it OH to save your PC place a wood or anything board under it so it is not directly on the floor LOTS of dust can creep in that way, just something i picked up from pro PC operators...
and good to see you again! im glad you got VERY good parts in your pc and Very well organized!

i also envy this setup, minus intel chipset and the raid0. raid0 is bad unless in combination with another raid array... 1+0 is good.... 0 alone doubles your chances of data loss. I always use raid1 for my computer... at least then i don't have to freak out if a drive dies, cause i can still use the computer :)
yeah i pretty much just want your monitor setup o.o
love that cintiq placement o.o

Please forgive my computer illiteracy, but I am kind of curious as to how you are using sli and 4 monitors, or is that just something the gtx 480 can do? I have two GTX 260's and three monitors (1 being my small cintiq screen). I would love to sli them, but from what I understood that would mean I could only have two screens, unless there is a trick I don't know about? XD
I disable the cinitq when I want to game in sli :) Actually, I have two operating systems installed, one for work and one for fun. the fun one boots up with sli enabled by default.
Helps keep me from being tempted to game while I should be working so thats a plus!
But yeah, when I sli, its all 3 lcds :> Just takes two nvidia surround compatible graphics cards.

That is an awesome setup, makes me jealous! Mainly because my desk is a mess and not having any shelving in my room atm means most if not all of it goes on said desk! FRUSTRATING when you are trying to find a pen x.x
And having a look inside I thought "Wow..that is a really small motherboard...wait...no its not, those graphics cards are just GINORMOUS!!!"

I recently got a 27" monitor for Xmas :D I'm very happy with it

Oh man I love Age of Fire <3 Can't believe E.E. Knight was at FC. To the left of the inheritance books is the lord of the rings trilogy and cirque du freak is on the other side.
Age of fire is probably my favorite dragon series next to the tales of kolmar. I'm so trying to talk one of my friends into reading it myself, LOL.

Oh gosh. Age of Fire. I still haven't been able to get my hands on the sixth book. ; n; The book store was plotting against me:
Go in there to get second book. Consider getting all six. Decide against it. NEVER SEE SIXTH BOOK AGAIN.
The story was so great, though. It's sad that no one I've known has even heard of it. :c I'm not familiar with Tales of Kolmar, though. Is it similar?

oh gosh, I didnt know the 6th book was out LOL. I'm so going to have to read that! xD
Tales of kolmar is kinda similar... in that dragons are a focus in the story and not the bad guys. It's very much like a beauty and the beast story except with dragons :D The first book is called Song in the Silence.

Brb. Going to Amazon to try to find this. + u+ I'm always on the lookout for new dragon books and stuff to read. Is it weird that I never was able to get into the Pern books? Just something about them kept me from getting into them..
Idk it might be kinda lame, but I've loved dragons since I was a kid, so I can't get enough of em. x 3x;;

I read like.. one pern book back in middle school. I wasn't very impressed, in fact, I cant even remember much about it. Just not a story that stuck around for me. It might have been because the dragons were kinda just... there. They didn't seem very involved or easy to relate to. Unlike in age of fire and tales of kolmar.
ME TOO! Probably not too surprising though, haha. I've heard good things about the Tereraire series as well, haven't read that one though!
If you do end up reading Song in the Silence I'd love to hear your opinion on it! :D

Blaaaaah your space is so CLEEEEAN.... I don't have the drive to keep things that clean Dx Bed is all messed up nearly all the time, papers everywhere, cords all over the place... Xbox, sound system, laptop, monitor for laptop, cable box, TV, clock, 2 lamps, tablet dock, ETP for Xbox, wired controller, USB cords for GoPro, phone and laptop cooling pad, headset for Xbox (also wired)... All out of two outlets xD
Now that I think about it,
I mostly only had two monitors max.
but back then I didnt have a powerful machine to handle them or multitask >.>
Now I do..but no second screen :x
On top of which, I hate my current resolution..I need something around 16xx or higher before I do anything good -_-

I use a table-mate II that I spray painted black :B
This thing: http://www.amazon.com/Table-Mate-14350-4-II-Folding-Table/dp/B000EGJQG4/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1333221893&sr=8-1
Works nice for a 21ux, a perfect fit almost. Very snug. Only downside is it's not a desk so no keyboard tray, room for a mouse, etc. I would use a normal desk but they tend to be too tall and it's a pain in the ass to draw like that. Right now I have a desk set up right next to my cintiq for my nostromo, which is a gaming pad but I use it for art... put all my brushes and macros on there :)

OH DANG, you're 100% right. This site was wrong http://www.luuux.com/node/3283955 XD
If you do find a desk that works well for you I'd be super interested in knowing!
Congrats on your new toy in any case :D

Just two 480s :) I think thats the sweet spot as far as scaling goes for sli. 480s Are really good value for the price! If heat or some noise isn't a factor. Plus, they come in handy in the winter XD
And yup! Still works flawlessly! Only thing I'd maybe upgrade at this point would be to get 6 8gb ram sticks instead of the 2gb ones I have now. Then my system would be maxed out basically.

May it rest in peace. D:
Major respect for building your own computer though! That's incredibly awesome as from my experience not many girl's want to bother. (which kinda annoys me since its so simple??)
Also you should still tell me the specs so I can be a geek. I kinda enjoy that.
BTW... totally random but I was so wondering if you were a girl. I thought you were! But it wasn't super obvious and I find that to be rather awesome.

case - Cosmos 1000
mb - ASRock 880G EXTREME3
processor - AMD Athlon II X4 640 Propus 3.0GHz
Mushkin Enhanced Blackline 4GB DDR3 RAM
Western Digital WD Black WD1001FALS 1TB HD
Western Digital WD VelociRaptor 150GB fast drive
Antec NEO ECO 620W power supply
graphics card - umm XFX HD-467X-ZDF2 Radeon HD i think
Lite-On 24 X iHAS424-98 DVD burner
that's all i can remember/find on newegg. keep in mind this was my first self-built computer so it was pretty simple, especially since i didn't use it for gaming. i bought a few of the parts off a friend so it was hella cheap too. the motherboard fried after 4 years (after plugging it into japanese power sockets and then US sockets) and i was so pissed that i just scrapped it. made myself an external HD which uses an internal HD so it's fast and shit, eventually i'll put it into the next computer i build, whenever that'll be haha.
i'm really not too knowledgeable about this kinda thing, but it's something i'd like to learn more about~ ONE DAY MY HEART WILL HEAL AND I'LL BUILD ANOTHER.
when did you first start getting into computers (specifically building)? guys seem to dominate the field unfortunately. and yes, my chest is filled with fat and mammary glands. :P

A white case! I like. I was so tempted to get a white case myself but decided to be uncreative and get what was considered one of the best. That's a decent workstation computer you built only thing I'd change would be more ram.... Mmm... ram.
This computer was the first one I built! I guess I aim pretty high. I was 19 when I built it. I've built a few others for friends and family since. One for an ex whom wanted it so we could play games together and for doing her own creative work (she was a graphic designer). That was pretty fun. I basically did the opposite with her build (AMD processor, ATI graphics) turned out just as good as mine... if not better.. and at a fraction of the cost lol. Hate how quickly electronics become "outdated".
AND YES, you have to!!! Too awesome building your own rig not to :D I just learned everything I know from the ever knowledgeable google and reading reviews and such.
What a coincidence! My chest is too! Though not much fat.. and my mammary glands are extremely underdeveloped... OH WELL at least I can flash people all I want :3c
I kid, I kid. :>

yeah, that case is about the only thing i bought new. that's why the ram and power supply were kinda weak... i spent more on the case than everything else combined haha.
this is goddamn impressive for a first-time computer if i do say so. i barely managed a basic one with help. that's awesome you've built some for others, if you keep up on the new technology you could even open a shop and make pretty good money building them as a hobby. i had a friend who dropped out of college to do that and he's making $45,000+ a year part time. he says it's real easy work and he loves it!
whenever i next get established somewhere i want something with triple monitor action like this! do you have a particular brand to recommend? the bigger the better~
... JUST LIKE TITS HEUEHEUHUHEHA no really though you just flash people because you need validation for your itty bitties. :P actually big ones are pretty annoying when they get in the way...

Thank you! Well my 3 23" screens are all ASUS monitors. For the price they're pretty much the best I've found (unless you come by a sale or something!). The colors are pretty and not washed out, but not super accurate. I kind of like that though since I figure these are the types of screens most people will have so when I make art I make sure it looks good on both as I work. So THAT is super handy.

That's the ones!
But yes... oh man... 3 monitors is DEFINITELY the sweet spot. I want to get a normal tablet too so I can make better use of them for art. I mean, I can sort of with my cintiq, but I have to look up and down constantly and it strains my neck. And yeah, I certainly wouldn't mind building computers as a job, haha. Though I don't think there's much future in it since it's SO EASY and people are learning of this magical tool called google fhdaskg... Most people are lazy though so it'd probably be fine.

I got it in May 2009! So it's an older model. And honestly, nah. A standard intuos is much more useful with my set up and doesn't require such a specific set up for it not to be a pain in the ass to use. Plus I can lean back and draw in my lap with an intuos which is a godsend.
It's a fun luxury though :) And it's useful in that I know at least one of my monitors is color accurate for sure, haha. (Cintiqs are IPS panel monitors woot woot)

How organized. You're right, it is very fun to see how other artists work and where the create their stuff ^^ I currently live in the corner of a livingroom in a one bedroom apartment, so my workspace is wherever I am able to sit but I used to have a really nice desk set-up. I envy you for having such a nice place to art out :3
normal tablets are good for that (aside from large and extra large sized... those ones arent super portable!) :) Can literally just put one in your lap and start drawin! Lots of freedom :D Unlikes cintiqs *cough* *cough*
Cintiqs require very specific arrangements. Like notice how in this pic mine is on its own separate little table? That's because MOST desks are too tall to work comfortably on one. It can be tricky to create a set up to accommodate such a beastly piece of equipment. Pretty much have to build your work area around it.

Nice room. Noticed the glass tables you have are in the same frame style as mine, though mine's a corner desk with black glass. Nice system, as well. Just built a new one meself, 16gb of VLP RAM(its sooo tiny! the clips are taller!) 250GB samsung evo SSD(their softwares clocked it @ over 1 GB/s read/write and 120k+ IOPS ) 2 of the new 1TB Barracuda drives(non-raid these things are twice as fast as my old 250GB Barracuda Raid-0 config ) and a poopoo 3570K. Crazy temps keeping me @ 4.3GHz. Contemplating delidding the sucker, though atm i'm also looking into doing my own waterloop. Getting a single GTX 780 or Ti version soon, don't use surround, but then again all I do is game on a single large display.
