Backstory: Kezrath was walking along in the forest when when he heard a faint, unfamiliar chirping sound coming from the branches of a nearby tree. He looked up to see what the sound was, but couldn't see anything no matter how hard he looked. Curiosity getting the better of him, he decided to climb the tree to investigate this unfamiliar sound.
As he climbed the tree, he noticed that the sound was getting louder until finally it sounded like it was right below him. He quickly looked down to see a nest of strange, dragon-like creatures hatching from their eggs. He gently picked up one of the eggs to watch as the strange creature emerged.
I've finally finished my CharacterArtXchange piece for crow559 (on deviantArt). Sorry it took me so long, I just had a lot of problems finishing this picture.
Aside from the problems I encountered while working on this piece, I really have to say I'm happy with the outcome and I think I learned a lot from all the effort. This is probably one of my first pictures where my color scheme is harmonious; usually my colors are a bit more random than I'd like them to be so I guess that means I am (finally) learning something about color. I've also discovered a (sort of) easy way to make leaves and branches which should should work as a good starting point for other forest pictures. I've never really drawn a forest picture before, so I had a lot to learn just starting out (not to mention the added difficulty of spotty lighting from higher leaves). XD
