His mum was cool with me picking them up on day one. Some rats get nasty when they have babies, but others are fine. I have a really good relationship with his mum because she has teeth problems, so I have to clip her teeth regularly, and we've built up a sort of trust between us. She's a nice, easy going rat. When they were really little, she would come and take them off me if I held them for too long, but she's never been aggressive.
