Budgies are pretty awesome but I honestly like the medium sized ones. I don't know what it is, but they just seem to grasp things a little better than the budgies I had. my Lovebird was velcro-ed to me 24/7. I'd adore owning a Greencheek. Supposedly they're on the quieter side and have a cute gravely voice.
That's super cool that you work with rehabs! I'd always be a little afraid of their wild nature, honestly, but having that experience would be like no other. I hear you on the space... I'm moving very very shortly and my border collie will have to stay here for her sake. I couldn't provide the running space she loves, and it would be rough on her since she's turned 8 in March.

I want a Conure but all of them have the ability to scream really loud, GCC aren't as high pitched as Suns but in decibels they're pretty loud. I'd get a conure but due to my living situation I'd be laughed at for even asking. A bird that makes noise but not as... high in decibels I might be able to get.
Really? I frequent a forum called avianavenue and some people put together a list of common species based on their loudness and it was quite interesting. http://forums.avianavenue.com/bird-.....se-levels.html
I was heavily considering a Pionus, if not a Greencheek, but some of the Pi's are hard to come by as they aren't as "pretty" as others. Personality and health are far more important than beauty in my opinion.

Oops, I didn't see the decibels part. I did see another chart that listed the shrillness factor on a Lovebird and I couldn't believe they had it at a 1 out of 4. My lovebird was quite capable of deafening me and making my ears ring if she tried. I wish we had some more db ratings on them, it would help.
