I just saw what you wrote over on her submission, and I agree with everything you said. She really did a lovely job with this, and she captured the mood I wanted perfectly. I wanted it to be a more metaphorical fall than a literal one, a fall as into a dream or another world. I've always loved the idea of suddenly finding yourself in a strange new world to explore, and if I can't get there myself that's what my writing is for. I'm really glad you like this.
For all that I know, this does feel like more of a metaphysical piece than a depiction of a physical fall. The dreamy expression makes me feel that this is capturing the uncertainty and weightlessness as her mind tries to make the transition from where she was, to wherever she's landing. Maybe she's just turned a page in one of her books when her mind drifted for just a moment, sending her falling into the pages of a land so strange and beyond anything she could imagine.
Maybe I'm reading too much into it, though, but it's just the feeling I get when I look at the piece. Maybe I'm just silly, though!
I do think the idea of another world is very appealing. When I was a child, my dreams were very important to me. They were a way to escape into such an interesting and beautiful world, and every night almost I'd fall into the same one, almost right where I left off. I had come up with a name for the place I went to, and wrote a lot about it when I was little, well, to the best of my ability to write at the time. Most of it were just scribbles and the most unintelligible doodles you'd ever see. It wasn't until much later that the dreams just became day dreams. Though I'm still rather fond of the place, should I ever get to visit it again.
Very sorry for rambling.

Actually, I like the book idea. I hadn't really thought about how she got where she is. I was much more focused on her fall into whatever mysterious place she's going. But why not a fall through the pages of a book? It makes as much sense as Alice tumbling down the rabbit hole, or a bunch of kids wandering through an old wardrobe.
You were very lucky to have those dreams. I never experienced anything like that when I was asleep, but my writing was my portal into another world. Most of earliest writing couldn't even be considered stories. It was just me attempting to visit this place that I had in my mind, and to feel the shape of it. It eventually formed itself into Viridis, where most of my stories are now set, and I count myself as very lucky I can still visit. Though there is some element of mystery that has gone out of it by now. Still, who knows? Maybe you'll get to visit your own dream land again someday. I do hope so.
No need to apologize, either. I like to read your comments!

It is a bit of an unusual picture, isn't it? I decided I wanted something a little bit different from the usual stuff I commission, and my initial thought was just to have her falling through the sky. But I didn't want it to be an upsetting picture, or one that worried people, so I asked for her to be kind of serene and dreamy, and the idea of her falling into another world, as Alice did, just followed naturally. Thought she does look a bit surprised now you mention it, doesn't she? I'm glad you like it!

The game is quite hack-and-slash-y but at the same time, the story is surprisingly good, the artwork superb and the voice acting astounding.

Oh yes. Labyrinth has always been one of my favorite movies, and I know I've talked about my love of the Alice books before, so I just couldn't resist. As for what happens next, well I might just have to see if I can't come up with some kind of fun little story about Megan's adventures wherever she ends up.
