Not exactly furry, not even furry. but something I've wrote and copypasta'd to everyone who cries to me about how they are a "terrible" artist. I hope whoever reads this will walk away with better knowledge :)
EDIT: Oops! Here:
1. Using references isn’t a bad thing! In fact it’s really helpful and will make a world of difference
2. No medium is better than another, all that matters is what you do with it
3. The problem is rarely the tool, it is most often the user
4. Take a sketchbook or pad of paper, go out somewhere and draw real people from life
5. Take a sketchbook to the zoo, and draw animals from life
6. Do anatomy studies!
7. Take a look at perspective
8. Take a few days to teach yourself or refresh yourself the basics of composition
9. Remember color theory! Neon pink and traffic cone orange dragons may seem cool, but it’s actually pretty clashing and eye searing
10. Take constructive criticism in stride. They’re trying to help you
11. “But it’s my style!” is the worst excuse ever
12. Photoshop or a tablet will not make you a better artist
13. Just because you have photoshop and a tablet does not make you a better artist
14. Unless you’re getting more favorites and comments than you can respond to, always respond. Be kind
15. People will come to you for the erotic and fanart and stay for your quality
16. Take care of yourself, if you don’t your art will suffer
17. Constantly challenge and push yourself.
18. There is no easy button to becoming a good or even mediocre artist, it is all hard work, sweat and tears
19. Don’t use constructive criticism as a means to be an asshole.
20. Tutorials like “how 2 draw naruto” aren’t going to be of much or any help
21. The time you spend refreshing your page waiting for pageviews could easily be spent improving your art
