Coloured ink drawing (styled after MGS artist Yoji Shinkawa) of
Onnes' hyena character of the same name. If you like the character design please let him know.
If you want your character in this style please visit this journal for more details.
This is the first time in years I've thrown a digital texture over an image when I was done. Hope it's subtle-enough!

:o I'll refrain from asking why. :P
So what's your general approach on these? Do you do anything with pencils first or do you dash haphazardly in right away with ink?
Is the white just paint?
If you don't want to reveal your secrets that's cool, but process is always super interesting!

The colour scheme and clothing reminded me of a Piedmont image I either saw earlier or made up in my head.
Pff, I have no secrets! In earlier examples some of the white lines are ink, but in this image the black is the only traditional part. In working off of this loose style, I have to plan as loosely as possible with light graphite lines, but the inks are still resting on some sort of structure. The short answer to your question: Pencils first, but still haphazard!
Thanks for asking. :)

Hmm.... I'm thinking it might be the piece that Gatogato just did.
At least there's a similar tie/jacket combo going on there. *nod*
Monty would totally wear that though, he'd just look like a fridge.
I'm currently finishing some big wood burning/painting/drawing thing that I started like... 7 years ago, but I think once I'm done with that I'm going to go get a stick and some india ink and draw. :) So much inspiration coming from these.
