This is a picture of my first (I have two now), and my most beloved tattoo.
The pic on the right, was done by Dr. Robert Bakker for his book 'Raptor Red'. The tat was done by DoQ and touched up later by Hoss of 'Enchanted Dragon' Tucson AZ.
Not the greatest pic, and it's quiet a few years old, but I love it. I had been planning on it for five years before I actually got it. Originally it was going to have a bit of a backround, be in colour and have some text. But I couldn't decide on the colours or the text, and the backround seemed poinless without colour, so I decided to get the black n' white an set it fairly low on my upper right arm so if I ever decide to add to it later, I can.
She is beautiful.

It really depends. I'm not really into tribal designs, but I imagine that most, if not all the tats I will get will be primarily black and white.
But my parents are tattoo whores and have lots of absolutly gorgeous colour work.
It depends on what you want, and who your artist is.
One of the worst things you can do is just walk into any ol' shop and ask for something without even looking through his book or checking if he's APT or not.

That would be a start. Do up a few sample sheets (or 'Flash Sheets') and take them to a shop. Some shops will buy flash for their walls.
You can also ask about apprenticing if you want to tattoo yourself.
In any case, they would have a better idea how to get into 'the Bizz' then I would.

wow, that is cool. I only wish that I had read the book before listening to it on tape, but my mom couldn't find the book until years after I had listened the tapes to death, and then lost them. And now I've lost the book!................I'll have to find the unabridged tapes, or something.
