I joined a Christmas gift circle on the FA forums not too long ago which is pretty much like a secret santa but with multiple recipients.
The FAF Christmas Gift Circle
This, along with their gingerbread furries, is what I am gifting my group with.

Small and cute is the ONLY way to go. :P
As for the windows, it Photoshop makes cheating easier. :P
1) Grab fill tool.
2) Set fill tool to "clear"
3) Select all 8 window panes.
4) Spend 45 minutes on Google image search looking for that perfect image to use.
5) Ctrl+S
6) Open it in Photoshop.
7) Drag and drop it onto drawing. (Which automatically puts it on it's own layer)
8) Set that layer behind drawing.
9) Size and move image to desired location.
10) Done.
