First of my new species, the firefly cat. I would like to change the name then but I haven't come up with an official species name for them. I want to use this one as a tester to see how well it goes over and what the price should be. I'm also going to base the intricacy of any later designs off of the price...

I actually was going to keep this one for myself but I already have a male character with the same colors and if I were to keep this one I'd make it a boy. xD
Species info: The eyes and any marking with the same color glow, the tails are prehensile as they are based off of the third set of legs on a lightning bug. When not in use the wings fit along the back, they also act as a kind of armor from any form of attack that could be to the back, the outer layer is the only tough part. If the inner wings are damaged they take a very long time to recover if they recover and regrow at all. These cats have wonderful hearing as I'm sure you can guess by the large ears, they also have a good sense of smell and the antennae on their forehead allows them to sense wind currents. They are omnivores but they prefer to hunt. They're about the size of a medium sized dog, males are about a shoulder higher than most females.

I'm pretty much willing to try whatever, if you have a specific beetle in mind if you could link me to a picture that would be great. ^-^ I have a few scarab beetle references saved because I was actually going to do some later but they may not be the one you're looking for. haha
Man, I just looked up scarab pics and realized I had no idea they were so varied!
Initially, I was thinking of this sort: http://www.sunshinejoy.com/images/i.....cts/341222.jpg
Though ultimately, as long as it's not one of the brown or black ones, I'd be happy with most any of them, like this one: http://artist-3d.com/free_3d_models.....insect-img.jpg Or even this one: http://www.godofinsects.com/files/9.....72700_23_4.jpg
The insect world really is a cool thing XD

Would you like me to combine two of them?? XD And yeah, that's one of the reasons I choose to base a lot of my adoptables off of real things in nature, it gives me a lot of inspiration and I never have to worry about running out of ideas... haha. No repeats with this because even two of the same beetles would have slightly different markings or I can mix two to make a completely different design.
It really is quite amazing. I worked with an artist awhile back to create moffens (moth/fennec crossings) and scorples (scorpion/lemur crossings). We were in the process of developing fleetahs (fly/cheetahs, what with all the various wing designs) when her motivation sank v.v Still, it was fun while it lasted, that's for sure!
Ooo, if you could see where two of them would combine well, please do! Most definitely *grins* Thanks!

This is an interesting amagloration. The color scheme is well chosen the colors themselves have are vibrant but humbled by thier pasty smokey look (sort of like tribal paint?). While the tail(s) looked really wierd to me at first but the lightning bug explaination made me exept it because it was well thought out. the cat part ressembles a wolf more than any sort of cat ive ever seen and the tough layer seems a bit out of place. Specificly the high contrast between shell to fur still no major gripes though.
These are still being developed as I go, I'm hoping to add a full reference sheet for the species once I find time. They're typically colored based off of different beetles, I don't think this one was being the first of it's kind. I think I referenced something else. ( I can't remember what it was now. haha.)
