THis only took me about 15 minutes.
Was just trying to think up a suitable "nightmare" themed villain.
I'm thinking he could be a shapeshifting spirit who has the power to possess the spirits of Somnia, the dream kingdom. Through this method, he can change into various types of monster, as well as taking direct control of a nightmare, and causing it to become more sinister and frightening.
He feeds off fear and misery.
I was also considering going the standard "nightmare" road and making him an evil horse. I might still do that. But I dunno.
Anybody got any suggestions for a cool villain, keeping in mind that it's an adult comic?

For me, what is really frightening in a dream is something that begins innocently and becomes more and more scary as more things that scare me start coming in. So a possible idea would be to give the villain a form that he uses to pass by unnoticed. Since he's a shapeshifter, it would be easy to insert himself in the middle of a pleasant dream by coming off as part of the cast. Then he explodes into action and corrupts everything.
Other than a wolf, fox, or horse, a suitable species for nightmare character might be of some sort of cephalopod! A cuddlefish can float into a dream and be accepted because it is cute and dreamlike, but then explode into a Lovecraftian mess. Also, tentacles.

Hey thats pretty admazing...
As for villian ideas...How bout a dream knight gone evil?
Or a lich like bad guy who is able to create said nightmares?
Or, hell, a mad warlock, whom used to rule the dream realm or wants to rule?
When it comes to story details, I always try to help, personally I like the evil dream knight or knights idea, mabie have your jester confront one...
HA just had the idea of your mule alphonse as an evil dream knight...

I like the "Mare" idea :P
Considering it's an 'adult' comic.. everybody loves horses :D
Having him suave, evil [[flirtacious with the jester?]]... generic maybe... so it's up to you.
I'm also digging the whole starry spectrum in the imagery.
So possibly have the character draped in cosmic garbs or eyes with the stars in them or something or other.
xD Hope this helps!

Ethereal/insubstantial bodies are always the scariest things. It's that which is not real which is the most terrifying. Some people are afraid of guns, of bombs, and so on... but then they're able to fight back against such things with logic, reason, and probability. But do you know what can't be fought with any of those things? The boogeyman. It's not real; you can't lay a finger against it. You know it's not real, and yet, there it still lurks. It's the insubstantiality of stuff like this that makes them terrifying. They're not real, so you can't fight them.
