Here is my portrait rendering gift of
foxforrester 's character "Hikari Shinja" for his Birthday. For who I have an absolute honor and respect for.
This took me a total time of 13 hours to do. Using a 0.07mm #2 mechanical pencil.
The pose that he is in, was something I had in my head for quite a while now, and am very pleased on how well this turned out.
Happy Birthday Fox!

Yeah, this time I was attempting to doing a few different techniques than from my previous pieces.
I wanted to go with a lighter approach this time. Especially with the outlining of the whole figure. In order to add alittle more realism and to keep it from looking too cel-shaded.
I would draw the darker areas with the usual 'normal' hand position, then to the 'underhand' position for the lighter areas.
I also attempted a flow of the lines around the pants area to make it look 3 dimensional as well as each the robes dark cloth ends. It's a little hard to see but, the directional lining is there.
I'm sorry if I don't really know the style naming for these. :(
