I CAN'T DRAW BACKGROUNDS TO SAVE MY LIFE. PERIOD. -_- I SUCK.
My next fantasy piece. This time depicting the hyena thief Akello.
Akello is a former slave and skilled thief and saboteur. His mother, a prostitute, was murdered by a stingy client, and said client, a wealthy jackalman warlord, claimed Akello for himself as his property.
When he came of age when he could walk, Akello spent every hour of the day working and toiling, earning nothing but stale food and several lashings if he did not move barrels fast enough. At the age of ten when he accidentally knicked one of his warlord master's sons with a woodcutting axe, Akello paid for his clumsiness by having his right forearm chopped off.
Even without his arm he was still forced to work, earning even more lashings due to the decrease in efficiency due to having a hook for his right hand. Eventually the warlord deemed Akello useless for a slave and aimed to kill him. Much to the warlord's surprise, the now bitter and hardened Akello responded in kind by slitting the warlord's throat with his hook. In the confusion and chaos, Akello covertly massacred the entire household of the warlord and stole all the riches he could carry.
Living in the underworld of the vast desert empire, Akello used his earned riches to have his hook upgraded to a spring-loaded arrow launcher, added with an attachable blade he uses akin to a pata-sword (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pata_%28weapon%29). Akello assumed the life of a cutthroat, stealing, coercing and black mailing people for money. He justifies his means in distributing most of his wealth to the needy. He also has the tendency on murdering slave trafickers and members of royalty or the aristocracy as punishment for what their kind did to him.
Once Akello was courageous enough to steal from a wandering canine beastman. This particular target was not ready to depart with his axe and chased down Akello with dazzling grace and agility. The two came to blows, proving each other almost equal to one-another in skill. Akello managed to injure this beastman with an arrow to the thigh, only to run straight into a contingent of guards.
The two were imprisoned, Akello for obvious reasons and the mysterious beastman as a suspected spy from the west, which had been ransacked by the infamous Fenrin the Conqueror. While imprisoned awaiting their execution, the two came to an understanding after a night-long conversation. When it was time, the pristine white beastman, faking weakness incapacitated the guards and sprung both himself and Akello from prison, fleeing the city into the wastes.
Since then Akello swore allegiance to this mysterious wanderer calling himself Denzer.
